Rain stops play

The really nice looking sky suddenly turned black and horrible and then the rain started. Those in the Sport Class who had managed to reach the second TP were able to get onto a glide and make it back to the airfield but those still struggling got washed out of the sky. Upwood became very popular and hosted 7 of our gliders. It has now been renamed Upwood International.

Some coming back into Wittering in the rain ran into issues and there were 2 who made it back onto the airfield but ran out of energy and could not cross the finish line. They now have a five minute penalty applied but at least they are not in a field.

The Open Class had more of a romp around the sky having gone off first. There are lots of happy glider pilots in the bar discussing their awesome thermals and runs into TPs. They are hoping for more of the same tomorrow but tomorrow is looking a bit ropey. However, with the met forecast being notorious for its accuracy, tomorrow promises to be a booming day!

It has stopped raining here and the Vulture Sqn are in full swing bringing gliders back from Upwood International. A8 has just recovered to Wittering.

The view towards Upwood International with Vulture Master co-ordinating.
